A web directory specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links in the World Wide Web.

A web directory is not a search engine, and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords, instead it lists web sites by category and subcategory. Some directories are very general in scope and list websites across a wide range of categories, regions and languages. But there are also a large number of niche directories, which focus on restricted regions, single languages, or specialist sectors.

Now you are correct, but if you go to some directories they do have search capabilities and bring up websites when using their search. Perhaps that will be the next big search a huge directory with sophisticated search capabilities. Anyway welcome to the forum maccy.

I've got it in my head that it's a bad thing to submit to every directory that asks you to list with them. I'm trying to be selective to prevent sand boxing and also to prevent my site from looking like it is link farming...

I am ranked at 339 on Google for one of my keywords now so I've a long way to go!
